WalMart, Marana, AZ: Free RV Parking

May 8, 2017: We were told that the WalMart in Marana, AZ (this one at 8280 N Cortaro Rd) allows free parking for RVers.

Well, that’s what we were told.

Turns out that the City of Marana has an ordinance against sleeping overnight in vehicles in parking lots. Sash had called the WalMart manager there ahead of time, and was told that they didn’t mind us parking there, however, it’s technically against the law. They did elaborate that city police don’t really enforce it that often.

So, we decided to overnight there just to find out.

We found a few stealth class B vans overnighting there, along with a couple of obvious van conversions. Otherwise, we were the only RVers who were obviously RVers. No other class A, class C, travel trailers, or fifth wheels there.

But we were not bothered by cops. They didn’t come knocking.

When morning came around, we got dressed and headed out.

But while we were there, we met up for dinner with another RVing and motorcycling couple, Mike and Chris. We had a great time dining at Chili’s (in the same shopping center).

Our advice: Get there late, and leave there early. You shouldn’t have a problem.

I'm a "Man in Black", one of those guys who goes around dressed in black suits, looking for people who were abducted by UFOs so that we can keep them quiet. Sash and I travel around in this trailer awaiting orders from headquarters for my next assignment. I can't show you the details of my work, but I can show you how I live.
