La Siesta Motel, Ajo, AZ

La Siesta Motel in Ajo, AZ might be the best deal to stay in the town. $60.00 for a cabin with a queen bed, AC, microwave, fridge, coffee maker, shower, Cable TV, pool and spa?

Yup, it beats the two other lodgings there.

Albeit, La Siesta Motel isn’t in town, it’s effectively on the outskirts, about a few miles from the city center. However, it’s quiet, clean, and full of soul.

Get a cabin instead of a room. You’ll be glad you did.

Sash and I found the landscaping in bloom with native species. La Siesta Motel was awarded a Wildlife Habitat certification for the birds and butterflies that up residence there. The idyllic scenery had a calming effect on me, particularly after a hot afternoon’s ride through the Sonoran Desert.

Motorcycle riders will appreciate the safety and security of their motorcycles parked in front of the cabins, shielded from view of the highway.

Later in the evening, I relaxed in the hot tub and looked up at the stars that fill the night. I felt free, open, and wanting to take in deep breaths of air and chugs of cold beer. It’s no wonder they call this place, “La Siesta”.

It’s hard to say when we’ll be back in Ajo, it’s so far removed from everything.  But then again, maybe that’s the point.

I'm a "Man in Black", one of those guys who goes around dressed in black suits, looking for people who were abducted by UFOs so that we can keep them quiet. Sash and I travel around in this trailer awaiting orders from headquarters for my next assignment. I can't show you the details of my work, but I can show you how I live.
