Pagosa Brewing & Grill, Pagosa Springs, CO

Pagosa Brewing & Grill. is one of those places where all the locals go, where they do all the fun stuff, where they know you by first name and don’t take anything too seriously.

Well, except for their food and beer.

The recipient of numerous craft beer awards, the Certificate of Excellence by TripAdvisor 2013 & 2014, the “Best Après Spot” by National Geographic, and the 2014 Good Food Award, you’d think that Pagosa Brewing & Grill would let distinction go to their head. But, it’s still a small place where customers get cozy and chat with strangers. It’s still a place where employees hang out on their day’s off. And it’s still a place with a dirt parking lot.

Pagosa Brewing was started by Tony Simmons in November 2006 as a small brewery and tap room. The numerous craft brewing festivals across the country shed spotlight on Simmon’s knack for crafting awesome beer, helping the startup grow like wildfire.

If you go there, definitely get yourself a hotdog. Pagosa Brewing & Grill has an extensive menu of locally made sausages, free of nitrates, preservatives, and additives.

Sash and I stopped there in May 2014, on our way up to Denver. We found friendly bartenders eager to treat customers to a warm, small town hospitality, and eager to familiarize me with Pagosa Brewing’s great beer. Other customers came by to ask about our motorcycles and tell us tales of their days riding in the saddle.

Overall, the entire town of Pagosa Springs is quite friendly to motorcyclists, knowing that two-wheeled travelers account for a sizeable portion of their city’s revenue. But Pagosa Brewing & Grill seems to have a very welcoming attitude to all visitors.

If you plan to stop there, let them know that Road Pickle sent you.

I'm a "Man in Black", one of those guys who goes around dressed in black suits, looking for people who were abducted by UFOs so that we can keep them quiet. Sash and I travel around in this trailer awaiting orders from headquarters for my next assignment. I can't show you the details of my work, but I can show you how I live.
